My-Cast Radar Snapshot from Monday, July 11

There’s never a good time for a bow echo to track across an area but a Monday morning commute is probably one of the worst times.  Radar echoes in the shape of an archer’s bow are a strong indication of damaging winds and the one that rolled through the Chicago area produced hurricane-force wind gusts.  615,000 ComEd customers lost power, CTA and Metra train service was suspended and flights were even halted at Midway and O’Hare airports.  Wind gusts were clocked as high as 75mph at Midway Airport.
