Deadly Tornadoes Strike Massachusetts
Tornadoes near Springfield, Massachusetts killed 4 people on Wednesday. Depending on the exact details, this could be the deadliest tornado in the state in nearly 4 decades. The last time 4 deaths were caused by a Massachusetts tornado was August 28, 1973 when an F4 tornado struck Berkshire County. According to the National Climatic Data Center, only 7 tornadoes have caused deaths in Massachusetts since modern records began in 1950. The worst was the Worcester tornado of June 9, 1953 when 90 lives were lost.
